Kayla Rather hired as next girls coach at Roane County High School
According to Jesse Smithey of 5-Star Preps (5starpreps.com), Kingston Athletic Director Colt Narramore announced that Kayla Christopher Rather, a 2-time Class A Miss Basketball Finalist and star player at Oliver Springs High School, has been hired to replace Connie Guinn.
For more than a month the school has been looking for Guinn’s replacement and that was announced Tuesday Afternoon.
Rather played for her mother at Oliver Springs, Michelle Christopher from 2005-2009 leading the Lady Bobcats to a State Runner-up finish in 2007. She also led them to four consecutive appearances and 105 wins.
Rather played her college ball at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she was named All-Southern Conference 3 times.
Rather has been the girls basketball coach at Rockwood Middle. She inherits a team that was 22-8 last year.
Rather was named the Rockwood Middle School Teacher of the Year for the 2017-18 School year.
