Rockwood Council says, “if you have no water service, you can’t live there until it is restored”

The Rockwood City Council took action on final reading last night now making it a violation of the city ordinance that if anyone who has their water turned off at their place of residence for either construction, natural disaster, or just non-payment of services, after 10 days, they would not be allowed to stay there until the water service is restored. The council voted unanimously last night, however, one council member, Steve Bryant, was absent due to sickness. Building inspector Harold Ishman explained to the council what the law would require and why it would be implemented, stating it was needed due to health-related and sanitary reasons, he also stated the police department would be required to enforce the law and it would go into effect immediately.

  1. Well when they become with all that power to tell you that you can’t live in your home. That is crazy. Tell them you will meet them when they are going to stay if they don’t have water.and if they have water I would want to know why they have it and I don’t . that’s why I don’t live there. They want to run things they have no business to mess with.

  2. If i OWN the home? Ill stay there as long as i damn well want and they can KMA! There is this thing called the 4th Amendment to the CONSTITUTION which reads and i QUOTE “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, HOUSES, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Because someone is late on a BILL owed to the GOVERNMENT which sets the rates, is NOT a REASONABLE excuse for a WARRANT.
These localities that like passing unconstitutional ordinances need REIGNED IN AND SMACKED DOWN!

  3. Why aren’t the meeting agendas posted on the City website, like it says there are supposed to be?

  4. Another abuse of Power. They need reminded that we live in a Democratic Country. Not a Authoritarian State
You don’t own me or my body
